Arysta LifeScience Receives MIDAS® Experimental Use Permit From EPA

CARY, N.C., Sept. 5, 2006 – Arysta LifeScience North America Corporation today announced that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has granted an Experimental Use Permit (EUP) for MIDAS®, a next-generation soil fumigant developed as an alternative to methyl bromide. The permit is for limited use on 1,000 total acres in Florida, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. The company will be evaluating efficacy, market yields and economic comparisons across several crops during this program.

MIDAS® effectively controls a broad range of soil-borne diseases, nematodes, weed seeds and insects that threaten high-value crops such as ornamentals, strawberries, fresh market tomatoes, peppers and turf. The fumigant is applied using conventional techniques and equipment.

Arysta LifeScience is committed to significant training procedures and education to ensure the proper application and handling of the product. The conditions of the MIDAS® EUP will allow usage only by selected growers in the seven-state area who have completed the Arysta LifeScience certified applicators program. All growers participating in the program will receive certification specific to the proper use and handling of MIDAS®.
