Arvesta Turf and Ornamental Adds to Sales and Technical Staff
SAN FRANCISCO (Feb. 25, 2005) – To further its efforts to deliver
innovative products and services to the industry and achieve growth in
the turf and ornamental markets, Arvesta Corporation has announced the
addition of several new regional sales and technical service
representatives.
“Increasing our presence significantly in the turf and ornamental
markets reflects our commitment to growth and delivering products that
meet the needs of our customers,” said Arvesta President and CEO Elin
Miller.
David Baker, Lee Rogers and Brett Rush have been named sales
representatives for Arvesta’s turf and ornamental (T&O) group; Doug
Houseworth joins as T&O technical service representative. All will
report to Arvesta T&O Business Manager Bill Liles.
Baker will manage Southwest and Far West regional sales. He most
recently served as sales representative for Agrivert, Inc., a sister
company of Arvesta, selling Nutricote fertilizer and a portfolio of
‘green’ products. Prior to working with Agrivert, Baker was in nursery
production and sales at a leading horticultural distribution center.
“The synergy between plant nutrition and plant protection, the novel
chemistries marketed by Arvesta and the global experience of the
management team create a significant opportunity for success,” Baker
said. Baker received his bachelor’s degree in business administration
from North Texas State University.
Rogers assumes sales responsibilities for the Northeast and
Mid-Atlantic areas. Prior to joining Arvesta, Rogers worked in sales
for Agrivert focusing on Nutricote sales. He also worked at Nichimen
Corporation, a legacy company of Arysta LifeScience, parent of Arvesta.
“The arrival of new and innovative Arvesta T&O products will
provide current and new customers with valuable solutions for their
operational needs,” Rogers said. Rogers received a bachelor’s degree in
chemical engineering from the University of Colorado.
Rush will cover the Midwest sales region for Arvesta T&O. Most
recently, he served as director of development for the College of
Agriculture at Purdue University. Prior to that, he was in turf
chemical sales for the Anderson’s and Novartis.
“Arvesta is a growing company with promising chemistries that will
enable us to provide new solutions for the turf industry,” Rush stated.
Rush received a bachelor’s degree in Agronomy and Turfgrass Science
from Purdue.
Houseworth assumes the role of national T&O technical service
representative following 25 years in turf and ornamental research and
development at Ciba and Novartis, and most recently at AgriGuard
Company, LLC.
“With turf and ornamentals being one of the greatest areas of growth
for Arvesta, I’m pleased at the prospect of helping develop
leading-edge chemistries like ARENA®
Insecticide to commercialization, as well as future compounds in
development,” Houseworth said. He received a bachelor’s degree and
master’s degree in horticulture from the University of
Missouri-Columbia. He also received a Ph.D. in plant pathology from the
University of Missouri-Columbia.
