Arvesta Aligns Commercial Operations With Customer Business
SAN FRANCISCO (Feb. 24, 2005) – As part of its commitment to cultivate a customer-focused business strategy, Arvesta Corporation named Tom Justmann, vice president, Specialty, and Hugh MacGillivray, vice president, Cereals and Oilseeds. Both will report to Elin Miller, president and CEO, Arvesta Corporation.
“It’s critical that Arvesta emphasize its reputation as market-driven and customer-focused,” said Miller. “Our continued growth and success in the agricultural industry is based on our reputation for providing targeted solutions to meet customer needs. This is the first in a series of developments for a much stronger commitment in the specialty market, as we continue to build on our foundation in cereal.”
Tom Justmann joined Arvesta (Tomen Agro) in 1995. In his first position as director of business operations, Eastern Hemisphere, he managed sales and marketing efforts in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific. In 2002, he became responsible for global sales. In 2004, he was named vice president, Commercial. He serves on the Board of Directors of Arvesta Canada and Arvesta Mexico.
“The largest area for Arvesta growth in the next five years is in the specialty market, including turf and ornamentals. To achieve optimum growth, we must focus on this important segment of plant protection,” Justmann said. “Our current product portfolio will position us for growth for many years to come.”
Recent additions to the Arvesta specialty crop product portfolio include KANEMITE® and SHUTTLE™ Miticides, CLUTCH®, CELERO® and ARENA® Insecticides. The company is also expecting the registration of MIDAS™ Soil Fumigant in 2005. Justmann also noted Arvesta’s planned purchase of Agrivert, a subsidiary of Arysta LifeScience Corporation, will boost the company’s profile in the “green” products category.
Justmann received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. He also has training in business and marketing from the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business Administration.
Hugh MacGillivray most recently served as Arvesta’s North American business manager, where he led the company’s successful repositioning effort of EVEREST® Herbicide. Prior to joining Arvesta, MacGillivray was vice president of sales and marketing for Feed Management Systems. He also has held several management positions with Aventis CropScience predecessor companies.
In his new position as vice president, Cereals and Oilseeds, MacGillivray will lead Arvesta’s NAFTA efforts on SELECT® Herbicide. He also will oversee the marketing resources activities for the company, including the launch of MIDAS.
“The success of our cereals and oilseeds products have provided our company with exciting growth,” MacGillivray said. “I look forward to expanding our opportunities in these markets.”
MacGillivray earned his bachelor’s degree in agriculture from the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg.
